What to Expect
What are the worship services like?
On Sundays, at 9:30 AM and 6:00 PM, we come together to worship God. Almost every service features a variety of musical styles that allow us to honor our King. You will enjoy singing new choruses as well as beloved hymns as we lift our voices in praise to our God.
The preaching of the Word of God is a priority at West Cannon. Preaching is expositional, meaning that it seeks to declare the point of a particular Biblical passage. Sermons usually last between 40-45 minutes; during this time our Pastor not only helps us understand what God’s Word says, but also how we are to apply it to our lives. We are regularly encouraged to grow together in our Lord.
Sunday morning, children two years old through upper elementary meet for Children’s Church. We want our children to become acquainted with God’s Word so they can have a relationship with Him, so these classes are designed to help them understand the Bible according to their particular age. In the evening, classes are available for twos through pre-kindergarten.
What about Sunday School?
Our Sunday school classes run from 11:00 AM until noon. Children age two through sixth grade learn songs and Bible stories in a way that is age-appropriate. Our juntior high students meet in Small Groups (Big Group on Wednesdays), and high school students meet in Big Group (Small Groups on Wednesdays).
There are several adult classes to choose from and each provides a time of fellowship as well as light refreshments, followed by a time of sharing, prayer, and practical teaching from the Bible. The relationships that are built in these classes will help you feel connected and make West Cannon easy to call "home."
Is there a nursery for younger children?
A fully staffed nursery is available for all services for children under two years of age and is divided between infants and toddlers. You will be assigned a numbered pager, which matches your child, in case you are needed.
Where do I go?
As you enter our facility you will be welcomed with a warm smile by our greeters. (They will be wearing nametags and located at each door.) Maps of our building, as well as Sunday school class schedules and topics, are available.
Our greeters will be happy to assist you in any way possible. If you have children, someone will help you find the appropriate classroom.
What do I wear?
Regardless of what your personal style preference may be, you’ll be comfortable here. If you prefer dressy, business, or casual attire, chances are there will be others dressed much like you at any of our services. Sunday evenings are typically more casual than Sunday morning.
