Policies
Miscellaneous Policies
- It is our policy to foster an atmosphere of love and respect between teachers and children.
- Clear and responsible expectations are carefully explained to the children and the staff follow uniform and consistent reinforcements of expectations. These expectations are based upon guidelines for kindness, courtesy, and safety.
- When a child misbehaves, the teacher will first speak to him/her in a loving manner, explain what the child did wrong, and suggest an alternative behavior. If disruptive behavior persists, the child may be separated from the group. Continued misbehavior may result in a loss of privileges at playtime.
- A child's parents will be notified and consulted if incorrect behavior persists after the above measures are taken.
Illness Policy
When children become ill at the preschool, we will contact the parents by phone and expect them to make immediate arrangements to pick up the children. We do require that the children be kept out of the preschool for 24 hours after a fever has subsided since this is often the contagious period. We also retain the right to refuse admittance to any child that "looks contagious" using our own discretion.
Communicable Disease-West Cannon Preschool will, on an as needed basis, work cooperatively with the Kent County Health Department to enforce and adhere to the Michigan Public Health Code (Act 368 of 1978 as amended), for prevention, control, and containment of communicable disease in the school setting.
Insurance Policy
Parents or guardians are responsible for any and all claims, including but not limited to medical and transportation expenses, as a result of any injury or illness incurred by the enrollee during his or her attendance at the school, and any associated school function off the school's premises.
