Jim graduated from Baptist Bible Seminary with a Th.B and he also met Shirley Stewart who became his wife in 1954. From there he completed the M. Div at Grace Theological Seminary. Westminster Theological Seminary afforded the opportunity to complete the Th. M. in apologetics and philosophical theology. His doctorate was completed in Systematic Theology and Apologetics at Grace Theological Seminary.

Two pastorates in Michigan provided nine years of ministry. He served as Associate Professor of Philosophy at Cedarville College for thirteen years where he also served eight churches as interim pastor. He was Vice President and Dean of Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary for 16 years where he continues to serve as the Distinguished Professor of Philosophical Theology.

Jim enjoys reading widely, researching medical ethics and ministry in a postmodern culture as well as teaching in Asia, Europe and the UK and doing conference ministry.

Dr. Grier and his wife Shirley have one adult son who teaches Political Economy at Oklahoma University.


Colin Smith, PH. D. Colin Smith, Ph. D.

Colin attended Baptist Bible College of Pennsylvania, where he received his B.R.E. in 1977. While there he was also an assistant pastor at Grace Baptist Church in Hazelton, Pennsylvania, where he was ordained in 1978. He then pastored Grace Baptist Church in Laurel, Maryland, for fifteen years; during this time he continued his education, obtaining his M.A. from Capital Bible Seminary where he also served as Adjunct Professor. He then pastored two churches in New York while obtaining his M.A. and Ph.D. from Cornell University where he also served as a teaching assistant. Colin currently pastors Grace Baptist Church in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania, while serving as Professor of Bible and Biblical Languages at Baptist Bible College.

He co-authored Old Testament Parsing Guide (with Todd Beall and Bill Banks, published by Moody, 1989/Broadman, 1997) and serves as Chief Old Testament Consultant and Editor of Old Testament Model for Bibles International in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Colin and his wife Anita have five children, four of whom are married. Colin and Anita just recently became grandparents.
