Supporting Children with
Special Needs
"Making a difference within the Body of Christ"
Help the Church
We strive to help West Cannon Baptist Church become aware of and responsive to the unique needs of children in our church family who may need additional or individual care.
- Provide awareness and understanding
- Bridge differences
- Foster understanding and acceptance within the peer group
- Provide teacher training and support
- Provide opportunities for church members to serve each other
- Consult with Sunday school teachers and church staff when needed
Our goal is to come alongside families and make church a time of refreshment for them.
Help the Individual
Through the ministry of Compassionate Hands, we provide a coordinated network of support that allows children to be included and successful in our church programs and activities.
- Develop individual care plans (which may include 1:1 support)
- Provide social support
- Provide consistency for the child
- Foster spiritual understanding at their level of learning
- Provide a positive learning environment and individual teaching tools for the child, if needed
- Create ways for the child to serve
- Provide special equipment, as needed
- Provide needed support for activities offered to their age group including: Church, Sunday School, AWANA, PRIMEtime, VBS, and Social Events
Help Families
We come alongside families and provide support as needed. This enables families to worship and fellowship more fully within our church community with less worry about the unique needs of their family member. Compassionate Hands steps in when families request assistance.
