Church Staff

Pastor Doug began his ministry here at West Cannon in 1980 when he became the Youth Pastor. He served in this capacity until 1986 when he became the Pastor-Teacher. He is a graduate of Grand Rapids Baptist College (Cornerstone University-B.A.) and Grand Rapids Theological Seminary (M.R.E.). Doug and his wife, Kathy, have six children: Douglas (Rose), Kristen, Emily (Caleb Clark), Alyssa, Laura, and Wesley.

Pastor Mark joined the staff in 1998. He works closely with Pastor Doug, assisting him in his administrative duties, and oversees the staff. He also plans and leads West Cannon's music and worship. Mark graduated from Baptist Bible College of Pennsylvania (B.S.). He is currently working on his M.A. degree at the Grand Rapids Theological Seminary. Mark and his wife, Marsha, have four children: Joshua, Katelyn, Kendra, and Kiley.

Pastor Dave is responsible for overseeing the church finances, administrating the West Cannon Preschool, and working with our missions program. Dave began serving at West Cannon in 1991 as Pastor of Christian Education before assuming his current responsibilities. He graduated from Faith Baptist Bible College (B.A.) and from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary (M.R.E.). Dave and his wife, Mary, have four children: David, William, Melissa, and Carissa.

Pastor Tim joined the pastoral team in 2008. Tim’s primary areas of responsibility are overseeing the outreach and discipleship ministries of West Cannon. Tim and his family served as missionaries in Brazil with Baptist Mid-Missions (2000–2007) and West Cannon was privileged to be the Sommers’ sending church. Tim graduated from Cornerstone University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Religious Education degree. Tim and his wife Robin have two daughters, Michele and Nicole.

Pastor Belt is the newest member of our staff, having joined our team in 2009. Maynard is responsible for leading our Seniors ministry as well as calling on the hospitalized, sick, and elderly. Maynard graduated from Grand Rapids Baptist Bible College and Seminary and was a pastor for nearly 25 years. He served as the State Representative for the Michigan Association of Regular Baptist Churches for 16 years. Maynard and his wife, Ann have two sons, two daughters, and six grandchildren.

Pastor Josh oversees the junior high and high school ministries. He was born in Tennessee then spent eight years in Australia with his missionary parents, when he was thirteen his family moved to Ohio. Josh began at West Cannon in September 2009 after moving here from Ankeny, Iowa. Josh graduated from Bob Jones University (BA) and from Faith Baptist Bible College (MBS). Josh and his wife, Amy, have one child, Jack.

Tim Anderson joined the staff in 2003. He is responsible for the Children’s Ministries of West Cannon as well as the recruitment, training, and retention of volunteers who minister at West Cannon. Prior to serving here at West Cannon, Tim was on the development staff of Wedgwood Christian Services. Tim attended Grand Rapids Baptist College (Cornerstone University). Tim and his wife, Debbie, have four children: Kenny, Kelly, David, and Daniel.
