Doctrinal Statement
The Bible
We believe that the transcendent God has made Himself known to His creation by an act of selfrevelation in the Bible. The Holy Spirit authored the text of Scripture, guiding the human writers, with the result that all Scripture is inspired, or God-breathed. The Bible is therefore the very Word of God, and consequently is authoritative, infallible, inerrant, and sufficient. The Scriptures are faithfully preserved in the completed 66 canonical books of the Old and New Testaments. (Ps 19:7–11; 119; Isa 40:8; 2 Tim 3:15–17; Heb 1:1; 2 Pet 1:19–21)
The Triune God
We believe the One true and living God has eternally existed in a glorious and mysterious Triunity of persons, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The persons of the Godhead are united in one simple and divine essence, being co-eternal, co-powerful, and co-equal; yet they are distinct, each performing unique but harmonious offices while sharing equally in the divine perfections. God is inexpressibly glorious in His holiness and divine perfections, and He alone is worthy of all praise and glory. (Gen 1:26–27; Deut 6:4; Mt 28:19; John 1:1–4; 8:58; 10:30; 16:7–11; 17:20; 2 Cor 1:21–22; 13:14; Eph 4:4–6; 1 Pet 1:1–2; John 10:30; 14:10; Phil 2:5–6)
God the Father
We believe in God the Father, the infinite Spirit, Who is eternally self-existent and Creator of all things. His existence, glory, power and holiness is revealed generally to all mankind in His glorious works of creation, and specially in His Word by the illumination of the Spirit and supremely in Christ. The Father mercifully and lovingly enters into the affairs of men, sovereignly foreordaining the events of human history for the redemption of those who draw near to Him in Christ, and for the judgment of those who reject His holy will. (Gen 1:1; Deut 6:4; Heb 1:3;1 Kings 8:27; Ps 97:9; 139:7–12; 145:18; Isa 40:22; Jer 23:23, John 3:16–17)
God the Son
We believe in God the Son, the eternally begotten of the Father. The Son is the Eternal Word, the second person of the Triune Godhead, and is co-equal, co-eternal, and co-powerful with the Father and the Spirit. It is through the Son as the Eternal Word that the universe was created and is sustained. We believe God the Son became fully man in the incarnation of Jesus Christ by means of the virgin birth for the purpose of our redemption. In the person of Christ are united two natures: His divinity and humanity. Christ never emptied Himself of His divinity, but in the incarnation added to Himself humanity. These two natures are united perfectly in the person of Christ so that He is fully God and fully man. (John 1:1–5; John 1:14; Gal 4:4; Col 1:19; Phil 2:6–9; Heb 1:1–3; 1 John 1:1–2)
God the Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who eternally proceeds from the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Triune Godhead, and He is co-equal, co-eternal, and co-powerful with the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit was active in creation, and specially filled and anointed individuals prior to the inauguration of the New Covenant of Christ. In His present ministry, the Holy Spirit testifies to the ministry of Christ and exalts the Son, convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgment, and is active in the work of God in salvation. Upon conversion, the Holy Spirit indwells, sanctifies, fills, eternally seals, and intercedes for believers. The Spirit also equips all believers for service with helps and gifts for the edification of the church. (Gen 1:2; Joel 2:28; John 15:26; 17:20–21; Gal 5:16–25; Titus 3:5 Rom 8:11; 8:26–27; 1 Cor 6:19–20; Eph 1:13; 4:30; 2 Tim 1:14; 1 Cor 12:1–11)
Angels
We believe in the existence of mighty angelic beings who are ministering spirits, created by God to worship and serve Him. They are an unnumbered host, who delight in continuously praising God, worshiping Him for His holy character and deeds. (Neh 9:6; Isa 6:1–3; Heb 1:14; 12:22; Rev 4:8; 5:11–12)

Satan and Demons
We believe the angel Satan despised his Creator and idolatrously desired worship reserved for God alone. Satan and a faction of the angels rebelled against their Creator, and have been cast out of heaven. By deception in the Garden of Eden, Satan enticed mankind in the first Adam to enter into his sinful rebellion, and now delights to corrupt the minds of men from the truth of God, author false religions and heretical beliefs, accuse men before God and deceive the nations. Satan and his demonic host will be finally defeated by Jesus Christ, the second Adam, who will render their final judgement, after which they will be cast into the lake of eternal fire. (Isa 14:12–14; Ezek 28:15–17; Jude 6; Gen 3:1–6; 2 Cor 4:4; Rev 20:3; 2 Pet 2:4; Rev 20:10)
Creation
We believe that God spoke the universe into existence from nothing, and that all of creation proclaims and reveals the existence, glory and sovereign power of the Creator. The universe was created in absolute goodness but has been subjected to corruption as a consequence of the sin of man. (Gen 1; Ps 19:1–6; Rom 1:20; Heb 11:3; Gen 3:17–19; Rom 8:19–22)
Mankind
We believe that uniquely among all living creatures, God created mankind in His own image through an act of new creation in the first man, Adam, and the woman, Eve. This first man and woman are the parents of the whole human race, and by divine decree mankind is vested with authority over creation as image bearers of the Creator. Human life begins at conception in the image of God, and all human beings are fashioned by God in the womb as a unity of body and soul, so that from conception to death all human life is sacred and worthy of protection, dignity, and honor. Mankind was created to worship God and glorify Him by enjoying Him forever. (Gen 1:24–27; 2:5–7; Ps 139:13–16) We believe that God immutably creates each person as biologically male or female as a reflection of the divine image and as part of His complementary design for human flourishing. Any attempt to psychologically, sociologically, or physically alter one’s biological sex violates the image of God and is sinful. (Gen 1:27; Rom 1:18–31)
Marriage, Sexuality
We believe that God ordained the institution of marriage as a covenantal union of life-long permanence between one man and one woman. The whole counsel of the Scriptures holds forth this pattern for marriage as the timeless ordinance of God. We believe the church should not sanction or facilitate, nor her ministers officiate, any wedding that violates this God-appointed standard of marriage. Sexual intimacy is a good gift to be enjoyed exclusively within the confines of the marriage covenant for the God-appointed purposes of intimacy, pleasure, and procreation. All other modes of sexual gratification reject God’s holy will. As reflected in the order of creation, husbands are entrusted with the calling to love their wives and provide Christlike servant leadership/headship, while wives are called to love their husbands and joyfully submit to them. Men and women are equal in essence, worth, and dignity as beings made in the image of God and this equality is not impoverished by their unique and differentiated roles and functions as complementarian. (Gen 2:18–25; Matt 19:4–6; Mark 10:5–9; Eph 5:22–33; 1 Pet 3:1–7; Prov 5:15–19; Song of Solomon; Gen 1:28; Rom 1:18–32; 1 Cor 11:3; 1 Pet 3:1–7; Gen 1:27)
Sin
We believe that the first man, Adam, was created morally good in the righteous enjoyment of his Creator. From this blessed and happy state mankind fell by Adam’s willing disobedience and rebellion against the command of God. This sinful rebellion brought the curse of sin upon the whole of creation, and conferred the guilt of sin upon the whole human race, separating mankind from God and condemning them to physical death, spiritual corruption, and judgement. All attempts of sinners to keep the law of God are in vain. The wrath of God is therefore justly aroused against mankind, and can be satisfied only through the shed blood of Christ for believers, or the fires of Hell for those who reject the gospel. (Gen 3:6; 3:16–17; Rom 5:12–19; 1 Cor 15:22; Rom 8:19–22; Ps 51:5; Rom 1:18; Heb 9:22; Isa 64:6)
Salvation
We believe that salvation is made possible only through the finished work of Jesus Christ. Christ satisfied the righteous requirements of the law by living without committing sin, and without a sin nature as a result of His virgin birth and divine nature. On the merits of His perfect obedience and moral perfection, Christ offered Himself as a substitutionary atoning sacrifice to the Father for sinners with His own body and blood on the cross. After dying to atone for sins, Christ rose again the third day to justify the ungodly, so that all who, by the enabling of the Spirit, repent of sin and believe in Christ by grace through faith are reconciled to God, adopted into His family, and receive eternal life. This is the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ, and there is salvation in nothing and no one else. (2 Cor 5:21; Heb 4:15; 1 John 3:5; 1 Pet 1:18–19; Rom 4:25; Rom 3:23–28; 1 Cor 15:3–5; Acts 4:12)
The Church
We believe the church is the redeemed people of God. His church is comprised of all true believers who, through union with Christ by faith and the baptism of the Holy Spirit, are joined together in the one family of God. The church is the bride of Christ whom He purchased with His own blood, and He is the head of the church. The church is to be marked by purity and unity that properly adorn the gospel of Christ. The church is for the glory of God, the mutual encouragement and edification of believers, a pillar and strength to the truth of God in the world, and a witness to unbelievers. We believe the local church is the regular assembly of believers who meet under biblical leadership for worship, the proclamation and instruction of the Word of God, mutual encouragement and service, and the observance of the ordinances. The local church is autonomous from human ecclesial bodies or authorities, with independent authority over membership, practice, discipline, ordinances, polity, etc., under the direct headship of Jesus Christ, who is the sole head and authority over the church. We believe the form of church polity described in the New Testament is that of elder-led congregational authority. The two offices of the church are that of elder and deacon. The role of elder is reserved for men, in keeping with the function of male spiritual leadership denoted in the created order. Deacons serve the church by ministering to the physical needs of the congregation, with particular care for the widows/fatherless. (Eph 5:25–27; Col 1:18; 1 Cor 12:12–14; 1 Tim 3:15; Eph 4:4–16; Titus 2:10; Col 1:17–18; 1 Tim 2:12–14; Acts 6:1–7)
The Ordinances
The Last Things
We believe that God is sovereignly orchestrating the events of history in order to consummate His purposes of redemption and final judgment, for the sake of His own glory, and therefore we await the imminent return of Christ. At the final judgement, those not united to Christ in faith will be condemned to experience the horrific and unimaginable bodily, eternal, and conscious torment of the wrath of God against sin in Hell. Those who are united to Christ and whose names are recorded in the Book of Life will enter into eternal life with glorified resurrection bodies, where they will worship their Creator and Redeemer in the New Heaven and New Earth that God will establish for the everlasting enjoyment of His people for all ages to come. The aim of redemptive history is the triumph of the kingdom of God, where God is supremely glorified, Whose throne is an everlasting throne, Whose rule will never cease. Amen. Even so, come quickly, Lord Jesus. (Ps 45:6; Dan 12:2; Matt 13:50; 25:46; Lk 16:24–28; Rev 14:11; 20:10; John 10:28; Titus 1:2; 1 Pet 1:3–9; Rev 19; 20; 21; 22)
